In 2020, when the UK was making some cool stained glass stamps, the US postal service was celebrating Hip Hop. So the ancient to the almost new. How cool is that?
The stamps celebrate four aspects of hip hop culture - MC, B-Boy, Graffit Art and DJing.
What draws me to these stamps is the direct link between stamps and culture. I also see hip hop as a form of communicating a message and it's great that in the same place we have these two very different forms of communication.
The art work with the color separation is an interesting design choice. I'm not the biggest fan but it certainly gives them a distinct, stand out, look. They'll certainly show up on a letter/parcel. Imagine posting some records with them!
