Good morning and Happy T for Tuesday to you! If you're wondering why I'm talking about Tuesday's and mugs, then check out Bleubeard and Elizabeth's "T for Tuesday" challenge by clicking here. Perhaps you'll join in on the Tuesday fun too.
This morning as I was making my morning cup o' chai, I was trying to find my favorite mug. Please tell me I'm not the only one with a favorite mug? You have one too, right? Your go-to mug. The mug you love the most. The mug that's always there for you - be it in cocoa, coffee or chai? The mug that has some sort of special meaning to you? Here's my favorite mug:
I love this beautiful purple-y pottery mug. I love it's color. I love the way the curve of the mug fits perfectly in my hand, keeping it so warm (like this morning, when it was -8 degrees outside! Yes, I said NEGATIVE 8 degrees incase you missed that little minus sign!) I love that I bought the mug at this quaint little antique shop in Newburyport, MA - which is one of my favorite small towns in America. You can't tell by this photo, but I love that it's larger than most mugs, thereby able to be filled with more of my favorite chai. I'd be crushed if it ever got broken. It's MY mug.
So, while I was on the hunt to find my mug this morning, realizing that I needed to do some weeding out of mugs, I had a Eureka moment. Hmmmm, this might make for an interesting post - an inside glimse of Super Stamp Girl's world of mugs. Then, the more I thought, I realized "mug" is such a funny word. . . Say it a few times. Mug. Mug. Mug. Kinda weird, right? Mugs. Add an "s" - even weirder. . .
I should be paid royalties by Dunkin Donuts for this shot of my "Massachusetts Runs on Dunkin" mug. Super Stamp Girl runs on Dunkin.
My Curacao mug. Well, the only part of Curacao you can still read is the "C" there in black. This mug has been so well loved and so used that it has taken quite a beating through the the years. I loved that the mug handle is also a spoon holder. Genius! This was the mug that started my traveling mug addiction. Some people by decks of cards, or Christmas ornaments or t-shirts from the places they travel. Not me. I buy mugs.
Ahhh, my vampire mug. The mug that got me through 5 years of my
all-things Twilight addiction. Okay, if I must confess, secretly, this is my 2nd favorite mug! AND, I still have a Twilight addiction. . .
The "old man" mugs. These are awesome! We were gifted a his and hers set one Christmas and I fell in love with these unique mugs so much that I contacted the potter, Thaddeus in North Carolina, and subsequently purchased one for nearly every member of my immediate family! The artist later informed me that I had bought out his entire inventory!
Alas, there are many more mugs in my cabinet of which I DO need to clean and rotate some of them around. I'll save them for another T for Tuesday. I can't expect you to sit here all day, when you have other T's to check out. So, thanks for stopping by and taking a small walk down memory lane with me.
Do leave me a message, I'd love to hear all about YOUR favorite mug!
