Hello readers and happy Saturday! I hope you are having a great weekend so far! Today I am sharing with you a card that I designed for the Watercooler Challenges all-occasions theme. This patriotic card would work well as a 4th of July card, but does anyone actually send 4th of July cards?! I know that I don't!
But, there are still many other uses for a red, white and blue card. Celebrate a military member's birthday or retirement. Congratulate a new soldier for completing boot camp or welcome one home from an active tour of duty.
Honor and thank an American hero for their service on Memorial Day or Veteran's Day.
The options are endless and will be endlessly appreciated.
*Full supply list at end of post.
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Night of Navy cardstock. The first 5 1/4" x 4" layer of red, white and blue plaid paper is from Pink & Main. Next I created a wainscoting effect on the wall behind the door by cutting a 4 1/4" x 2 1/2" sheet of Whisper White cardstock. I ran it through my Big Shot using a retired vertical striped embossing folder. I then took a plain strip of 4 1/4" x 1/2" sheet of Whisper White cardstock and placed it at the top horizontally against the stripes. Using White Embossing powder I heat the door from Crumb Cake cardsock. I die cut the door and adhered it to the center of the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. I heat embossed the wreath using White Embossing powder on Night of navy cardstock and again used the coordinating thinlits to cut the wreath.
Using a retired star punch, I punched the stars out of Real Red cardstock, Night of Navy cardstock, Silver Glimmer paper and Whisper White cardstock. All of the stars were adhered to the card using mini Stampin' Dimensionals. I heat embossed two presents on Real Red cardstock and one on Night of Navy cardstock. I die cut the present and adhered them to the card using Stampin' Dimensonals. Lastly I heat embossed the welcome mat on Night of Navy cardsock and adhered it to the card underneath the door with Stampin' Dimensionals.
Today's card was inspired by the "occasions" challenge at Watercooler Wednesday:
