Don't you love it when you see a stamp set or a beautiful card that invokes a certain memory? When the September My Monthly Hero Kit from Hero Arts was released I was whisked away to my mother's plentiful flower gardens growing up in Maine. My mother has a green thumb, a trait that I certainly did not inherit! But, I remember the Chinese Lanterns specifically because I thought they were so unique. Every fall she would dry them and put them as a centerpiece on our kitchen table. I admired them while evil eyeing my three brothers who consistently tried to "pop" each of the pumpkins to see what was inside!
P.S. - Seeds boys. Just seeds.
Now I am delighted that I can create my own Chinese Lantern cards using this beautiful stamp set!
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Cajun Craze cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" sheet of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the sentiment "Happy Autumn" in Cajun Craze ink. I ran this sheet of cardstock through my Big Shot using the Subtle Texturized Embossing folder to add just a little dimension. Before adhering this sheet to the card base, I used a Gold Leafing Pen to edge all four sides in gold. I stamped the Chinese Lanterns on Watercolor Paper and heat embossed them with Gold Embossing Powder. I watercolored the flowers and die cut them out. I heat embossed the vase in White Embossing Powder on Cajun Craze cardstock and die cut it out. I adhered the flowers and vase to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals for added height. Lastly, I used a Uniball Gold Gel pen to add random dots on the card for more sparkle.
Hero Arts kits tend to frequently sell out quick, but this September My Monthly Hero Kit is still available (for now)!
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!
