Some say the glass is half-empty and some say it's half-full. Either way, I say there's room for more wine!!
Hello and happy Fab Friday my friends! TGIF!
Thanks to a rather busy June and July, some hectic work scheduling and that hiking conference I'd like to forget about in August, I haven't been able to participate in card challenges for most of the summer. While it has been a pleasant break, I truly have missed the inspiration and I'm hoping to start participating regularly again starting with today's card for theFab Friday sketch.
This wine themed card features a new stamp set called Half Full (available in the 2017 Holiday Occasions Catalog starting September 1). Since I hoarded copious amounts of retired Blackberry Bliss cardstock two years ago, I thought it would be a perfect compliment for this new stamp set. In fact, since it's officially retired from Stampin' UP! now, I'm giving it a new name. . . meet Midnight Merlot! Perfect.
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Blackberry Bliss/newly named Midnight Merlot cardstock. *Suggestion: Try using Rich Razzleberry as a similar deep purple hue. The first matted layer was a piece of random scrap paper from my "purple" basket. This paper measures 5 1/4" x 4 1/8". Using the Scalloped Stitched Rectangles from Gina Marie Designs, I cut a rectangle from Crumb Cake cardstock. Using the Stitched Rectangle dies also from Gina Marie Designs, I cut and adhered a nesting rectangle from Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the two wine glasses in Blackberry Bliss/Midnight Merlot ink on Whisper White cardstock and fussy cut them adhering them onto the white rectangle with Stampin' Dimensionals. I heat embossed the wine bottle in Stampin' White Emboss Powder and fussy cut it out. I heat embossed the sentiment on another random strip of purple scrap paper and lastly added a few Rhinestone Basic Jewels for added fizz or sparkle.
I used Crystal Effects (retired) to get a glossy wet look on the wine glasses:
