Hello friends! In yesterday's post I talked about some of the various styles of cardmaking and today I am sharing with you three cards that I created featuring some of these styles. You will notice that all of today's cards utilize the same (retired) Helping Me Grow stamp set and the same color scheme, inspired by the Create with Connie and Mary challenge this week. Yet, all three cards have a slightly different look to them. What style appeals to YOU?
Today's 3 Styles:
The first card I created is a Clean and Simple card. While this card ideally should have taken only a few minutes to put together, it took me 45 minutes because CAS is not my usual style! I kept wanting to add embellishments and layers and I feel like this card is a little too simple for my personal taste.
Verdict: I think this is a great style for novice cardmakers, or those with limited supplies, but CAS is not for me.
The second card I created is Clean and Layered. Notice that I have matted my original stamped image, added two butterflies and popped up the layered sentiment for more dimension. I have also added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to both the flowers and butterflies for added sparkle.
Verdict: By adding layers and embellishments I feel this card has more visual interest and appeal.
Clean and Layered makes me comfortable and happy! Why fix what ain't broke!? : )
The last card I am sharing with you today would best be characterized as Freestyle/Collage. This is a style I've long admired and aspired to create, but you've got to let me know how I did because this is my first real attempt and I'm working WAAAAAAY out of my comfort zone here!
Verdict: Random elements such as washi tape, splattered ink and a small shaker component makes this card unique and artsy. I had fun making this card and I'm willing to try creating more in this style.
Today's cards were inspired by the color challenge at Create with Connie & Mary:
I hope you have enjoyed today's variety of cards. Let me know in the comments which card is YOUR favorite!
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!
