I don't want to say that I struggle with making masculine cards, because when given the opportunity, I actually do enjoy creating them. It's fun to use colors that aren't Berry Burst and Sweet Sugarplum pink or stamps that aren't all flowers, flamingos and unicorns! Hey, I love flamingos as much as the next girl, but, what manly man in his right mind wants a card that says, "Stand tall, gorgeous" for his birthday?! Hahaha!
Today I'm sharing a simple card that I created for a co-worker who was retiring after 30 years in law enforcement. That's an admirable career and a lifetime of service.
Hats off to him!
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Smoky Slate cardstock. On a 5" x 3 3/4" sheet of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the hats in Smoky Slate ink and the "Hats off to you" sentiment in Night of Navy ink. I mounted that onto a sheet of Night of Navy cardstock. I cut a piece of Silver Glimmer paper to 3" x 1 1/2" inches and notched the left side before adhering it to the center of the card. Using the Stitched Circles dies by Gina Marie Designs, I cut a 3" circle out of Night of Navy cardstock.
I heat embossed the bodybuilder in White Stampin' Emboss powder on the Night of Navy circle. I adhered this circle to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. Lastly, I die cut the mustache out of Basic Gray cardstock and adhered it over the bodybuilder using Stampin' Dimensionals.
This card was also inspired by the "Anything Goes" masculine theme challenge at Watercooler Wednesday this week:
