Hello friends and happy Friday! It's a long holiday weekend for me and I hope you get to enjoy an extra day off too! 3-day weekends are the best! Actually, I took today off from work too, so a 4-day weekend is even better! Half of our Cape Cod Crafters group is spending the weekend in Vermont and we are all excited to spend the whole weekend crafting! Did you know that tomorrow (October 6th) is National Cardmaking Day?! We picked the perfect weekend to escape! Be sure to follow along on my Instastories to see what we're creating (or doing) all weekend long!
Now for an update regarding The Great Stamp Out - my current craft spending freeze. Unfortunately I was never able to figure out how to put a counter widget on my website to track this spending freeze, so I have had to keep track the old school way - X's on a calendar! I am happy to say that I have surpassed my original 30 day goal and am now celebrating Day 43 of zero purchases! It's a great feeling and I am very proud of myself.
An exciting announcement introducing a new 2018 holiday event!
I am currently designing an all-new class to celebrate my entry into a non-Stampin' UP! world!

Have a wonderful weekend my friends and I hope you find time to create in honor of National Cardmaking Day!
I know it's nearing the end of August and temperatures have been soaring into the 90's with oppressive heat and humidity for most of the summer, but, colder days will be upon us before you know it. For me, things are getting chilly fast because today starts
Day 1 of my first ever craft spending freeze. Just for haha's, I'm calling it "The Great Stamp Out!" For the past year I have followed a craft budget, some months more successfully than others, but this budget has helped me to realize that I am still spending more money on crafts than I would like.
Beginning today, there will be zero purchases of crafts of any kind. This means no new stamp sets or coordinating dies, no designer series papers or embellishments. No cardstock, no ribbon, no Lawn Fawn Double Slider Die (coming out THIS Friday!) Additionally, I have canceled all monthly craft box subscriptions (buh-bye Simon Says Stamp, Hero Arts and Paper Pumpkin)! I promise it's not you, its me! I have even made the decision not to attend the Scrapbook Expo coming up in Marlborough, Massachusetts next month. Yes, things are getting very serious here.
Why do a spending freeze?
To save money! Yes, it's really that simple! In addition to saving money, I would also like to gain more self control over my purchases. I am blessed to have a lot of crafting products, but I would like to appreciate and use them more. Did you read Monday's post where I discovered 64 unused or unopened stamp sets in my craft room?!
How long to do a spending freeze?
Because I have never done a freeze of any kind, I am aiming to start with 30 days. I would love to double or even triple that amount of time, but I do not want to set myself up for disappointment. 30 days is a good starting point. I believe baby steps are a safe way to set myself up for success. As soon as I figure out how to add a widget to my sidebar, you will be able to follow along with me and track The Great Stamp Out progress. How's that for accountability!?
When do I start?
Today! Actually I kind of started last week (after the last Simon Says Stamp delivery), but we'll count today as the "official" start of The Great Stamp Out since I am making this spending freeze a public declaration.
How do I prepare?
There is no preparation required for a spending freeze. JUST SAY NO! I will learn to make do with what I have, or creatively find alternatives! Fortunately crafts are not a life-sustaining necessity, therefore I do not need to plan for unexpected expenses, or so-called emergencies.
I look forward to this new challenge and will keep you updated with my progress.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!
