Hello my friends and welcome to the New Year! After a short holiday with my family in Maine I have returned home and I am feeling refreshed, energized and ready to bring you lots of crafty inspiration for 2018! For today's birthday card, I am using a brand new stamp set called "Cake Soiree" that will be released tomorrow, January 3, 2018, when the Stampin' UP! Spring Occasions catalog goes live to the public. Yay! Soooo exciting!
I think this new stamp set is really elegant and I was delighted with how this card came out combining a subtle color palette with gold foil accents and a bit of embossing paste for added texture in the background.
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Thick Very Vanilla cardstock. The first layer of this card is Calypso Coral cardstock measuring 5 1/4" x 4". To create the background texture I very unexpertly shmeared white embossing paste on a plastic stencil over a sheet of 5" x 3 3/4" Crumb Cake cardstock. Once the embossing paste dried, I removed the stencil and adhered the texturized paper to the Calypso Coral cardstock base. Next, I cut a strip of Sweet Soiree DSP to 3" x 1 1/2" and notched the right end. I adhered this strip of paper to the center of the card.
Using the Stitched Circles dies by Gina Marie Designs, I die cut a 3 1/2" circle from Vellum cardstock. I cut off a small piece of the left side of the circle before adhering it to the card. I heat embossed the cake in Gold Stampin' Emboss powder on Very Vanilla cardstock and used the coordinating die to cut it out. For a beautiful shimmer, I die cut the cake stand out of a piece of Gold Foil paper. I adhered the cake and stand to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. On a small scrap of Calypso Coral cardstock, I heat embossed three small flowers in White Stampin' Emboss powder and adhered them to the cake with Stampin' Dimensionals. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment "Best Wishes" in Calypso Coral ink on a small strip of Very Vanilla cardstock.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!
