Thanks to the color challenge at the Global Design Project this week, I have a new favorite Christmas color combination! Basic Black, Old Olive and Gold. Gorgeous! Gorgeous! Gorgeous! I couldn't be more happy with how these beautiful cards turned out using the new Musical Season stamp set and Merry Music Specialty DSP. In fact, I liked this color combo so much that I designed two cards for you using most of the same elements to show how uniquely different a few simple changes can be.
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Basic Black cardstock. I cut a 5" x 3 3/4" sheet of Merry Music Specialty DSP and mounted it onto a 5 1/4" x 4" sheet of Old Olive cardstock and adhered both to the card base. I cut a strip of Glimmer Gold paper measuring 4" x 1 1/4" and adhered it to the center of the card. I die cut a circle of the Merry Little Christmas DSP using the Layering Circle framelit dies and adhered it to the center of the card over the gold strip.
I heat embossed two pieces of the greenery onto Old Olive cardstock using White Stampin' Emboss powder and then die cut them. I die cut a circle of Gold Glimmer paper and adhered it over the embossed greenery. Using Black Stampin' Emboss powder (retired) I heat embossed the little drummer boy onto Whisper White cardstock and adhered him to the center of the gold circle using Stampin' Dimensionals. Lastly, on a thin strip of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Memento Black ink and notched both ends before adhering it over the little drummer boy.
Here is the second card using the same color combination, DSP and stamp set:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Thick Whisper White cardstock. The first matted layer is a sheet of Basic Black cardstock measuring 5 3/8" x 4 1/4". I trimmed a piece of Merry Music Specialty DSP to 5 1/" x 3" and mounted it onto a sheet of Old Olive cardstock measuring 3 1/2" x 5 1/2". Using the Oval Layering Framelit dies, I die cut a piece of Vellum and heat embossed the little drummer boy in Gold Stampin' Emboss powder and adhered it to the center of the card. Using White Stampin' Emboss powder, I heat embossed the sentiment onto a piece of Basic Black cardstock and adhered it over the vellum oval using Stampin' Dimensionals.
Using White Stampin' Emboss poweder, I heat embossed the greenery on Old Olive cardstock and die cut them out using the coordinating framelits. I adhered the greenery under the sentiment. Lastly, I die cut the music note from Gold Glimmer paper and adhered it over the greenery.
These cards were inspired by the color challenge at Global Design Project and the new catalog favorites theme at SUO Challenges.
I hope you enjoyed today's beautiful cards, do YOU have a favorite?
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative weekend!
