The last weekend of October, my friend Nikki and I attended the Creative Journey Art Retreat on Cape Cod. You might have heard me mention it only a bajillion times by now! Anyway, it was our first time going and we had SOOOooo much fun! We were anticipating it to be great, but I think it even exceeded our expectations! We're still talking about it to all of our friends and telling EVERYONE that they have to join us next time.
Today I wanted to share some of the photos with you that I took on Day 1 of the retreat:
The event was hosted at Cape Space, a beautiful flexible working space. You can rent rooms or office space daily, weekly or on a monthly basis. But, we all know that Jen really picked this space because of her love of teal!
Our seats had designated name tags, information packets, card kits and awesome goodie bags!
These were some pretty amazing swag bags featuring the latest stamps sets on the market by big name companies!
All of the kits are so neatly organized and everything is pre die-cut and ready to assemble.
Here are some of the cards we made on the first day, all designed by Jen Shurkus herself. *Please note, these are not my creations.
We learned a few new techniques each day. Here was a piece of watercoloring that we did on one card:
We were also introduced to the new "turnabout" stamps by Concord and 9th designed for use with a MISTI.
We also used 18kt gold leafing pens to give our cards a beautiful metallic gold edging. You know that I had to come home and also order the leafing pen in silver as well!
And, there was lots of shopping! Essentially Jen had everything available for purchase that we used in the classes! Dangerous. Very dangerous.
There were raffles prizes from various companies and I won this new set of Distress Crayons from Tim Holtz.
I hope you enjoyed these photos from Day 1 of the retreat. I have more photos from Day 2 for you tomorrow!
